We study how and why species are responding to global change, and what those responses mean for ecological communities.
Welcome!
We are based in the Department of Biology at the University of Ottawa, ON, Canada. Our physical lab space, as well as most of the field research we do, occurs on the unceded, unsurrendered Territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin Nation.
The Kharouba Lab is a safe, supportive, and welcoming space for all people. We value trust and respect. We aim to foster a lab culture that is inclusive and values diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We strive for each member of our lab to feel supported as their authentic self, and we aim to spread this value to our broader scientific community.
We define our impact based on outcomes and knowledge that is useful. Based on what happens when decisions are made differently.
We collaborate by cooperating and networking openly and effectively within and beyond academia.
We communicate our science to inspire and empower others to act and to advocate for the use of science in decision-making.
